Community Children's Center
Community Children's Center is a Christian ministry of FCC. Our staff reaches out to infants, toddlers, and young children and their families in the Grand Traverse area to help them develop their God-given physical, social, and spiritual potential.

We provide experiences in an environment that foster the wholesome development of each individual child. A balance of indoor and outdoor developmentally appropriate activities is provided for each age group. Close rapport between parents and staff allows the children to develop to their potential, to satisfy their basic needs, and to gain sound emotional, physical, mental, social, and spiritual growth.
Staff Qualifications
Our director meets all qualifications as required for State of MI licensure and is a credentialed teacher.
A core staff of credentialed lead teachers are assigned to each age group and plan the entire program with the director. They implement the program along with the help of experienced child care staff who assist them.
Infant through Toddler Programs
Our infant and toddler program is developed with the goal that all children in our care will:
- Gain sound emotional, physical, mental, social, and spiritual growth
- Have a feeling of security, protection, and importance
- Learn that adults are loving and dependable and care about them
- Hear Christian lullabies, sing songs, see pictures and play with toys that depict Bible stories and people.
We will provide young infants (ages 6 weeks through 9 months) with:
- A gentle, nurturing environment
- Safe, developmentally appropriate activities to experience the world through seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting
We will provide tiny tots (ages 9 months through 1 1/2 years) & toddlers (ages 1 1/2 years to 2 1/2 years) with:
- A safe, secure room to explore and enjoy
- Toys and equipment to meet the needs of little ones "on the move"
- Toddlers experience a beginning preschool type program with books, art, music & creative movement
Early Preschool Program
Our program for helping 2 1/2 year olds through 3 1/2 year olds move up to preschool includes:
- hearing Bible stories alongside the preschool group
And in their classroom:
- guiding children toward independence in dressing, feeding, and toileting
- activities that encourage group manners, such as circle time, meals, and napping
- developmentally appropriate opportunities to learn & grow
Preschool Program
Our preschool program fo ages 3 1/2 through 6 years is designed to develop internal controls, self-direction, security, a sound character, language skills, and to broaden their intellectual horizons and prepare them for kindergarten and beyond..
- Learn skills, concepts, attitudes, and experience growth in relationships with others
- Experience the classroom planned around learning centers which include housekeeping, block building, woodworking, library, art center, sandbox, water play, science, & table activities (which include: alphabet recognition, beginning reading, writing and math skills)
- Hear Bible stories prepared especially for young children with learning center activities related to the story
- Be involved in small group activities, such as, cooking and "scientific experiments"
- Have fun with creative movement and take field trips into our community or enjoy guest teachers with a special talent to share

We currently have several full and part time openings in our toddler, early preschool and preschool rooms.
We accept DHS subsidized payments (formerly, FIA).
