FCC SUMMER CAMP 2010 MISSION
This year our goal is to bring awareness to the children at camp about poverty and homelessness in their community and teach them how to reach out to help those in need. We will be incorporating these lessons into the Vacation Bible School using Scripture, drama and hands-on service project throughout the week. The Women’s Resource Center (a shelter for battered women and their children) will be our designated mission for camp week. Throughout the week the campers will be painting canvas bags that will be filled with donated items that will be given to children staying at The Women’s Resource Center. We will be asking for donated items from the campers as well as from the congregation. Some other children through the local Poverty Initiative will also be invited to camp on donated scholarships. Your prayers and generosity for this mission project will be appreciated.
SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE... ALL WELCOME!
SUNDAY & SATURDAY KIDS CLASSES
According to George Barna in his book Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions by age 13 a child’s spiritual identity is largely set in place. At a recent Children’s Ministry conference given by Craig Jutila, former Children’s Ministry pastor at Saddleback Church (where the Purpose Driven life series comes from) a pastor stated that data shows if a child has not accepted Christ by age 12, there is an 80% chance they never will. Clearly these statistics show that the time to reach our children is now. After much prayer and research, we have selected curriculum we believe will involve, educate and help your child to grow in his/her faith today and for a lifetime.
Please take the time to read over your child’s class overview. Your involvement and encouragement in your child’s spiritual journey is not only helpful, it’s essential.

NURSERY
F.C.C. Toddlers Get Their Own Bible Study…
Speaking of changing lives…the Children’s Ministry and the Nursery Ministry at First Congregational Church have been praying and planning for the needs of our littlest members. Our dream is to see our church grow…especially in young families. We are seeking to meet this need and the current need of our toddlers turning three in a new way. Rather than move three year olds up into the Preschool Class, we have decided that there will now be a special “Toddler Class” right in the nursery. This will allow the two and three year olds to have a more formalized bible teaching and hands-on activities while still offering a safe and loving environment for the under 24 month in the side nursery room.
Our hope is by giving the three year-olds one more year in the nursery and offering them a “Toddler Class” they will be better prepared for the transition to Preschool at age four. In addition, children moving up at age four to the Preschool class will now only do so in September and in January, (rather than the during the month they turn four) offering less disruption for the Preschool class and a smoother adjustment for the new students. These changes are exciting and new so we are asking that you please pray for the Nursery Ministry. And, because there will be a “Toddler Curriculum” there will be even more opportunities to share the message of the Gospel to these little two and three year olds!
