Our Curriculum and Program
Jesus' early ministry...leading up to the death and resurrection
Using drama and puppetry among other methods, this curriculum covers everything children need to know about the early ministry of Jesus. Children will learn about the selection of disciples, performing of miracles and much, much more!
At the Saturday evening service, children begin in the service with their families. All children are invited forward for a Children's Message and are then dismissed to classes: 3 - 4 year olds, K - 3rd grades. Children then go to small group bible study with craft and hands-on learning activities. There is small group prayer time and welcome at the beginning of every class. Older kids participate in looking up scripture on their own.
On Sunday mornings, there is Kids Church with music, a puppet show and drama performed by the older 3rd through 5th graders. The large group then breaks up into small groups: 3 - 4 year olds, K - 2nd grades, and 3rd - 5th grades. In these small groups, children are reminded of the message and participate in a craft or activity related to that message. There is small group prayer time and welcome at the beginning of every class. Older kids participate in looking up scripture on their own.
The first weekend of each month is "Communion Weekend" when 3rd - 5th graders attend services with their families and have the opportunity to participate in Communion. This gives these children a chance to experience adult worship and to share in the Lord's Supper with their families. There is no Sunday school for this group on Communion Weekends.
Children moving from fifth to sixth grade are presented a Bible the first weekend of fall worship as a welcome to the Youth Group. Members of the current Youth Group will present them their "Teen Devotional Bible" and a welcome message given by Jim Harker, Youth Ministry Director. For more information on our Youth Group look at the Youth page of this web site.
